Ayurveda is a 5000 year old science from India designed to return humans to a state of balance with nature. -List the indications and contraindications for application.
-Explain the effects of Abhyanga on the body/mind/spirit.
-List which oils and herbs shall be used in specific situations.
-Create an ideal layout for an Abhyanga treatment room.

You wonder about the subtle aspects of your massage experience. Some questions that may arise include:
* What oil should be used for each individual?
* How do the seasons and time of day affect each individuals healing?
* How do emotion, thought and prayer play into affecting the healing process of each person,in relation to massage therapy?
* How do I address conversations about holistic healing with my massage client/therapist?
* In what way do stretches play into my healing in the Ayurvedic model?

Simply, what we are looking for is to EXPERIENCE WHOLENESS WITHIN AND IN RELATION TO OUR ENVIRONMENT.

Wash your skin gently

  • Cleansing is an essential part of caring for your skin. The key is to treat your skin gently.
Use warm water and limit shower time to about 10 minutes or less, and use warm, rather than hot, water. Hot water and long showers remove oils from your skin.
  • Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps — those most capable of stripping oil from your skin — can leave your skin dry. Instead, choose soap free or mild soaps with added oils and fats. Good choices include handcrafted and locally made soaps
  • Avoid chemical additives. If your skin is sensitive, avoid products containing perfumes or dyes. These can irritate your skin and may trigger an allergic response. Look for natural ingredients that you can read.
  • Remove eye makeup carefully. Use a soft sponge, cotton cloth or cotton balls when removing eye makeup to avoid damaging the delicate and thin tissue around your eyes. If you wear heavy, waterproof makeup, you may need to use an oil-based product, to remove makeup.
Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on the skin. Then moisturize your skin with an oil or cream in the morning. Applying moisturizer in the evening prevents the skin from repair of crazy free-radicals.
  • Kermit said being green isn't easy. Yet we can start with Biodynamics. Biodynamic farming is a natural method of composting our gardens with out chemicals. If your skin care line just incorporated this, kudoos to them. Biodynamics have been around since before the 1800's. I found that Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has been doing this since they began. Wash your skin gently with organic cleansers, after all we are organic beings.
