Right here, right now. How would it feel if you stay?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Having just recently completed 200 hours of Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training the journey unfolds. Talk about working through the tough stuff and peeling away the layers. Our instructor would ask us "How would it feel if you stay" all the while leaving us in a pose that made me shake and cry and think very mean thoughts toward her (that passed with every out breath.) Then we would come out of the pose with the feeling of accomplishment like no other.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Even though it was hard, it was possible. It changed the way I viewed life from the inside out.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt; Yoga allowed me to connect with my body, my mind and the experience was all mine. The others in my tribe had their own but we shared what is now a transformation.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt; Support from our families was on full alert.  We gathered that resistance was not only ours but also from the outside. Shedding the stuff that does not serve us and gaining a mindful and deliberate self. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Yoga taught us how to make better decisions, ask better questions and take out the trash. We became better aware of food choices. Most of all, discovering Patanjali's Yoga Sutra. Completely expanding our horizons and creating space where there was no space before.  Standing before our tribe raw with fear of the unknown yet completely supported by our sisters as we guide them through a few poses. Learning even more that it is possible to connect with and embrace the divine order of the universe. Bringing about awareness, instigating change. Reason being that it's not a bagel or bacon and eggs with a piece of toast is that I just recently watched&lt;a href="http://www.foodincmovie.com/"&gt; Food Inc.&lt;/a&gt; As well as listening to an audio CD of&lt;a href="http://www.skinnybitch.net/"&gt; Skinny Bitch&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;div&gt;My oh my what a wonderful world we live in that inhumanly treats our food before we digest it. &lt;i&gt;A hint of sarcasm there.&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;With out getting to deep into the science of "The Pain Gate" which I will leave that up to Rory and Kim. It is scary to know that before these animals die they feel fear and pain. The nervous system then releases chemicals in the body such as histamines, adrenalin and so forth. This is all in the meat we consume. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;No wonder I had road rage after eating that hamburger from the fast food joint that uses this meat. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;That was a year ago that I stopped eating red meat. I made the announcement to my family at Thanksgiving dinner. Yes I got funny looks but they have been supportive. It will be interesting this Thanksgiving when I deny the bird. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;So here are some positive benefits to eating healthy;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;1. My waist has gotten smaller. (I have missed you, my favorite pair of slacks!)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;2. I feel lighter. (By saying this I mean mentally and physically.)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;3. I am supporting local farmers. (Less of a Carbon Footprint)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; I am not able to make to many major changes since financially it does cost more to buy fresh eggs from down the road than a combo meal from a fast food joint. Food Inc talks about this.  So little by little I aim to do better. By promoting presence of body, mind and spirit through massage and skin health, I get to talk about why my skin looks fresh and healthy. We stopped and ate at a nice Indian Food restaurant and then went on to the show. This being my first show to see of him and friends I was pretty excited. Although tired from celebrating another friends Birthday the night before, I wasn't going to let that stop me from having a good time. &lt;div&gt;Big venues have their pros and cons. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;You get to meet a bunch of new people that share a common interest.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;And you get to meet people that you wouldn't normally hang around.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;When going out to events like these I try to be aware of other people and their belongings. I watch were I step and I apologize if I bump into someone. They didn't ask for my elbow much less crushing their snack that was over priced anyway.  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;So when this boy walked right over my purse last night, I asked him to please be aware that we have our belongings on our blanket and to not step on them. The detailed disrespect that came out of his mouth was unmentionable. As well as the rest of his friends that continually ashed their cigars and cigarettes on our blanket. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Again I had to ask another girl to stop doing just that. Yet, I said politely "Pardon, but if you could please be mindfully aware and not drop your ashes on our blanket." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The amazing part of all this is that their attitudes didn't mix right with the music or the reason behind the show. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;"An individual action, multiplied by millions, creates global change." That is what it reads in the passport I received yesterday. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://allatonce.org/"&gt;http://allatonce.org/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;"Your actions, your voice and your choices all have a huge impact. The weekend after that, she will be part of the NDN Mid Atlantic Modeling Convention here in Myrtle Beach, where Casting Directors and Agents from LA, NYC, Atlanta and Charlotte will be scouting for new talent. There will be models from 8 states competing. I get to hang out with a bunch of ladies and play with make-up. After our last class I was given a few hugs and some very kind words from these ladies. That made my day even better. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;One of the side effects that you may all know of is hair loss. This can be a tough transition for some and having some sort of head cover helps patients cope.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The American Cancer Society offers wigs, turbans and scarves to patients at no cost, yet the supplies are very low. I was told on Monday that we need more, so I have set up a collection here at the spa for them.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here at Elements Day Space we offer make-up application to patients in active treatment at no charge as long as they bring their own make-up. I would like to do more for these women and with your help we can.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; So from now until November 23, 2009 we are collecting wigs, turbans, scarves, knit/crochet hats and party hair pieces. It does clump up during removal. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Use another towel to catch debris and return it to the earth.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;I love this recipie because when bentonite clay absorbs and swells up, it is stretched open like a highly porous sponge. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Toxins are drawn into these spaces through electrical attraction and bound. Bentonite clay is made up of a high number of tiny platelets, with negative electrical charges on their flat surfaces and positive charges on their edges.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;The name "bentonite clay" refers to a clay first identified in cretaceous rocks in Fort Benton, &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;Wyoming. Although bentonite deposits can be found throughout the world, many of the largest concentrations of clay are located in the Great Plains area of North America. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;The Organic Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) is a botanical extract of the seed of the jojoba tree (Simmondsia chinenis). What’s interesting about it is that it isn’t actually an oil, but rather what they call a wax ester.  Because out of all of the compounds in nature, this wax ester is the most similar to human skin oil (sebum). It is conceived that applying jojoba to the skin can guide the skin into thinking it is producing enough oil, thus balancing oil production. The bottom line for us is that jojoba oil is non-comedogenic so we can use it for just about anything.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;There are a few excellent types of chamomile essential oil. Chamomile German is a beautiful deep dark blue due to its high azulene content. Bonus properties are antibacterial, antiseptic and disinfectant. Better still it is an anti-inflammatory which lessens the appearance of redness. The key is to treat your skin gently.&lt;br /&gt;Use warm water and limit shower time to about 10 minutes or less, and use warm, rather than hot, water. Hot water and long showers  remove oils from your skin.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps — those most capable of stripping oil from your skin — can leave your skin dry. Instead, choose soap free or mild soaps with added oils and fats. Good choices include handcrafted and locally made soaps &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Avoid chemical additives. If your skin is sensitive, avoid products containing perfumes or dyes. These can irritate your skin and may trigger an allergic response. Look for natural ingredients that you can read. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Remove eye makeup carefully. Use a soft sponge, cotton cloth or cotton balls when removing eye makeup to avoid damaging the delicate and thin tissue around your eyes. If you wear heavy, waterproof makeup, you may need to use an oil-based product, to remove makeup.&lt;br /&gt;Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on the skin. Then moisturize your skin with an oil or cream in the morning. Applying moisturizer in the evening prevents the skin from repair of crazy free-radicals.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt; Kermit said being green isn't easy. Yet we can start with Biodynamics. Biodynamic farming is a natural method of composting our gardens with out chemicals. If your skin care line just incorporated this, kudoos to them. Biodynamics have been around since before the 1800's. I found that Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has been doing this since they began. Increasingly women are becoming more aware of herbal skin care.&lt;br /&gt;Look around your kitchen the ingredients for a masque are right before your very eyes. Generally used for sun burn Aloe has wonderful benefits when combined with other ingredients. Not to mention that yoghurt taste delicious, it also can be used externally for sensitive skin. Cucumbers blended with yoghurt and aloe makes a great masque for soothing and calming, redness and irritated skin.&lt;br /&gt;Our skin is designed to protect and renew. Just like the moon, your skin has a cycle of elimination and regeneration. One way to maintain beautiful skin is to cleanse twice daily. Those dancing feet may be tired but your skin will tell you all about it later if you forget to wash your face before bedtime. If you leave anything on your skin at night you are not getting true beauty sleep. Moisturizing heavily or too often may create dependant skin and result in dry skin. The fact is that while you sleep the skin is busy adjusting to its atmosphere and trying to remain healthy. By cleansing the skin you are removing not only what is on your face but eliminating the free radicals. These are commonly known as environmental factors such as pollution, smoke and herbicides.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;Ritual for the skin&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Set aside an hour every evening. Start with a large bowl of steaming water and sprinkle a fragrant flower in the bowl such as Lavender adding green tea has antioxidant effects. Along with its gentle easing effect it also reduces the appearance of redness. Use a soft hand towel and soak in your warm water, wring out the excess and apply to the face for one minute. This practice helps open pores, awaking your skin to remove impurities. Cleaners these days are loaded with foam and bubbles; although fun they may contain harmful materials that irritate the skin. Cleansing with a Lemon infused milk or cream is a healthy approach. The Milk is skin friendly with lemon, a natural antiseptic, it strengthens skin’s elasticity. Lather this on with a light massage being gentle around the eyes where the skin is the thinnest. A second cleanse with the addition of sugar to your cream will exfoliate lightly and soften rough skin. Not just for ladies, this goes for you guys also. Remove with a light press and roll of the hand cloth. You just exfoliated so you will not need the extra wiping of the skin. Tone the skin lightly with witch hazel. This balances the ph level of the skin. Have your masque premixed for easier application. This is the fun part. If you do not have one of those fan brushes from your local art supply store you can use your hands to apply the masque. Place your cucumber slices over your eyes. Sit back and unwind for ten minutes. If the cat has not licked off the masque by now you can delicately remove it with your hand cloth. Breathe. Now, lightly press your dry towel to remove excess water. When I was in school for esthetics, I did research on ingredients and broke them down to find out what was in my cabinet. Holy Shitake, cow girl! What was I thinkin’? The stuff in my cabinet was now an alien to me. How could I possibly put that on my skin knowing that it was that harmful?&lt;br /&gt;I found a Holistic Skin Care line that I could use and responsibly offer to my clients. If you want someone else to do it for you, call your local spa and schedule a facial. Just do your research first and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
